A new chapter of Gulfport High School football is taking shape—right in the heart of the school’s campus.
The Gulfport Admirals are preparing to play their 2026 home games in a new on-campus stadium, giving players, students and supporters an opportunity to experience Friday night football closer to home than ever before. Construction crews are working toward having the field ready for Gulfport’s scheduled home opener against Laurel on September 11.
For the Admirals, this project represents more than a new place to play.
It represents identity, school pride and a stronger connection between the football program and the students who support it.
For years, Gulfport played its home games away from the high school campus at Milner Stadium. The new facility will bring the sights and sounds of game night directly to Gulfport High School, creating a setting where students can walk out of class during the week and see the place where their team will compete on Friday night.
The school district’s plans call for seating for approximately 3,000 Gulfport supporters and 1,500 visiting fans, along with expanded parking and a campus layout intended to strengthen student life and community engagement.
Building More Than a Stadium
A football stadium can become one of a community’s most recognizable gathering places.
It is where players create lifelong memories, marching bands provide the soundtrack, cheerleaders energize the crowd and families come together beneath the Friday night lights.
For Gulfport’s athletes, playing on campus will provide an added sense of ownership. This will not simply be another field where the Admirals compete. It will be their field, surrounded by their classrooms, classmates and school community.
The stadium also reflects a larger investment in Gulfport’s athletic future. District officials have described the project as part of a long-term plan designed to improve the campus and expand opportunities for students across multiple grade levels. Milner Stadium is expected to remain part of that future by primarily serving middle-school athletics after the new facility is completed.
A Night Gulfport Will Remember
The scheduled September 11 matchup against Laurel is positioned to be much more than an early-season football game.
It could become a historic community event—the first varsity home game in Gulfport High School’s new on-campus stadium.
The players who take the field that night will carry the responsibility of representing the program during a milestone moment. Coaches will prepare their team to remain focused on the competition, but everyone inside the stadium will understand the importance of the occasion.
Students will fill a new student section. Families will find new game-night traditions. Former Admirals will have an opportunity to return and witness the beginning of another chapter in the program’s history.
